Calling Quizzers in Scotland

LAM regular Brian Pendreigh has asked me to post this : -

iQa World Quizzing Championships 2012 - Edinburgh

Saturday 2 June

The Voodoo Rooms, 19a West Register Street, Edinburgh EH2 2AA

For the first time ever Scotland will have its own venue for the World Quizzing Championships this year. Around 1500 people took part last year, spread across every continent (except Antarctica) obviously.

It is a full day of quizzing, with an individual quiz in the morning, questions supplied by the International Quizzing Association, and a team quiz in the afternoon, organised by Colin Cruickshank, one of Scotland’s most experienced quizmasters, and Tony Gold, who sets questions for Only Connect.

Cost: £20, but with a 50% discount for anyone who has never been to an IQA or BQA event before = £10.

Please register in advance via scotland@worldquizzing.com. It would help if you paid in advance, via PayPal to payments@quizzing.co.uk, marking payments "WQC Scotland". You can also pay cash on the day.

10.15 - Registration and Welcome

10.30 - World Quizzing Championships (with breaks)

14.30 - Max Thomson Cup/Scottish team championships (up to four in a team - you can either enter as a team or we will sort you into a team on the day)

17.00 - 18.00 Preliminary Results & Close

18.00 - Bar and Restaurant trip, tbc

We hope to cover costs and make a donation to St Columba’s Hospice.
