Stop Press - Congratulations Brain of Britain 2012

* WARNING - THIS POST CONTAINS THE RESULT OF THE GRAND FINAL OF BRAIN OF BRITAIN*

A revew of the Grand Final will follow, but I have to offer my congratulations to Ray Ward, winner of Brain of Britain 2012. I don't know if Ray remembers it, but I first met Ray when we were taking part in consecutive heats of the first round of Mastermind 2006. Neither of us won on that day. The second time I met Ray was when I was guesting for North London in the London Summer Quiz League in 2010 - and he was certainly highly impressive on that night. Well done, sir !

Well done also to LAM readers Rob Milnes, and Ian Clark. Nothing to be ashamed of there, in what was a highly competitive line up. A special word of consolation too for my friend, teammate, and friendly rival in Aberavon Rugby club, Rob Merrill. I know that it's not much consolation, but it's a long time since South Wales came so close to having a Brain of Britain champion. You played a blinder all series, and did yourself nothing but credit.

A fantastic achievement by Ray Ward. We are very fortunate to have the benefit of his knowledge on the committee of the Queen's English Society.
