I don't know which teams are going to be on which show - impossible in this case anyhow since we're beyond the heats - and neither would I want to. If you start tailoring the questions to individual teams then you're changing history as it would have happened. Where do you stop? I might have removed the crossword question and replaced it with a Gilbert and Sullivan connection - do I now have to go through the contestants' biographies to make sure they aren't G&S fans? It's simpler and fairer to let fate take its course.

I would agree re: early buzzes. There's no advantage to buzzing early, so you might as well delay pressing for 10 seconds to ensure you're happy with your answer. Some of the contestants were pressing as a reflex action.davidbodhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06069767281654752637noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5401280171563686515.post-26223089834116516252011-11-13T03:43:18.194-08:002011-11-13T03:43:18.194-08:00It may be the luck of the draw which wall you get,...It may be the luck of the draw which wall you get, but there was no need for *either* of the walls to contain "a group of crossword setters" when one of the teams was "a group of crossword enthusiasts"!

I'm getting the impression that, following some inspired early answers in Series 4, teams are too eager to buzz in early in this series - both teams in this match, and the Edwards family in their QF.Andrew B.https://www.blogger.com/profile/12054400570279868608noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5401280171563686515.post-83128484672919745292011-11-12T13:41:43.358-08:002011-11-12T13:41:43.358-08:00Hi Bruce

Playing Devil's advocate though it wasn't necessarily that they lost because of that last word. I have a sneaky feeling that if they had taken the full set on the first question in round One, and seen the Little Mermaid's head for example, then they might have taken that set. Well, we'll never know for certain, but that's the way it goes.

DaveLondiniushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07871325359167581176noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5401280171563686515.post-11286247360012830622011-11-12T11:40:59.635-08:002011-11-12T11:40:59.635-08:00Tough way to lose a game - I thought ours was clos...Tough way to lose a game - I thought ours was close, but this must have been heartbreaking.

I was impressed by how quickly the Listeners powered through their Wall - it seemed to take them only 30 seconds, with full confidence on all connections.BruceLin42https://www.blogger.com/profile/18189830210921854962noreply@blogger.com
